The membership plan may have changed with the years. However, my membership has been flexible enough. My plan allowed me to take a break for a season when I needed to reconsider my schedule and finances, it allowed me to share treatments with my friends from time to time, and I don't know if it's the same with new memberships, but when I passed my 12 month mark I could cancel at any time. I just never could bring myself to cancel :)
Have been so very happy with this Massage Envy at Hamilton Place! I've been going there for close to 3 years now. Have had several different therapists and treatments.
And you can always pay a la carte. It may cost more after your first session, but is still worth it if you can make time to go once in a while.
If you're not sure about the membership side, ask about these flexible points I mentioned, they may still be the same for new members :)
I requested to cancel my membership and was told they only had one form, so I had to wait for it to be copied. This after I called earlier during the day and was told I had to come in. When I arrived, I asked to cancel again and the Manager told me to do it after my session. The attendant bounced from me to another customer and asked me to sign a hand written sticky note as confirmation that they received my cancellation paperwork. So unprofessional and tacky. I have no faith that my paperwork will be processed, so I will have to call for confirmation. If I didn’t have 5 pre-paid massages on the books, I wouldn’t be back.
I have been a member for well over a year. Everyone has been great! I have had massages and facials (Kasandra is AMAZING!). I also did not go for a several months, but NO PROBLEM! Those credits stacked up and I have been using them. I hate to read that others have had such bad experiences. Any issues that I have had have been resolved. Upon signing with them I did my own homework, so the company and employees should not be penalized for people not educating themselves or understanding their own finances. I would recommend joining to anyone that can afford to take some ME time.
They reel you in with a $40 1 hour introductory massage but they don't let you leave without an aggressive sales pitch for their "health club." My very first question to the sales associate was "Is this a contract for a certain period of time, or can I opt out any time I want?" She emphatically waved her hands and shook her head, "Oh no no no! We don't do contracts here! You can terminate at any time, you'll just save a lot of money on the massages you get while you're in the club." Ok, sounds great, why not sign up? I'll take part of the blame for not reading all the fine print on what I was told was simply a waiver to join the club. But, silly me, I just assumed a business wouldn't look me in the eyes and tell flat out lies to me. I signed, then after a month realized I was not going to use the health club membership enough to make it worth it, and I really don't have the funds to just throw away on something I won't use. I called to cancel. The girl at the desk couldn't help me but said a manager would call me back and she could take care of canceling the membership. I never received a call, so a couple days later I called back and was able to get the manager on the phone. She said I signed a 12 month CONTRACT and could not terminate unless I moved more than 25 miles away from a Massage Envy or had a doctor's note stating that I couldn't receive massages for medical reasons. When I told her that her employee lied to me about the terms that I was agreeing to, she said "I can send you a copy of what you signed." I asked whether she cared at all that her employees were lying to customers to get them to sign contracts and she, again, responded with, "I can send you a copy of what you signed." Completely ridiculous and dishonest.
On membership. I started with the membership. I found it to be an investment in my own health and well being. Intentionally, I carve out time on my calendar each month to take care of me. And that's why 3 years later I'm still a member.
I set up an appointment almost a month ago for my husbands birthday and still have not gotten called to confirm the appointment.
Terrible experience. I spent an hour getting a massage for relaxation, only to be highly upset during the checkout process.
I can trust that they will complete the treatment as explained, and address issues or concerns I have. Seriously appreciate the consistency!
My secret is I won't leave without scheduling my next session. Even if I have to change the appointment later to fit my schedule, I'm worth rescheduling for! And the staff are so nice, making it incredibly easy to do.
