Baldwin Auto has got to be about the best shop in Chattanooga. They are knowledgeable and friendly and I always have piece of mind I'm taken care of. I have never felt like ive over paid for any service and if multiple issues require attention he's always honest about what is and isnt a priority. We had a decade old xterra from GA we had to get past emissions and he fixed it so well its passed every year since. Everytime we have taken one of our vehicles to Jim its fixed and i dont have to deal with that problem again. My Dad has taken his vehicle there for years and my wife doesnt want anyone else to touch her car! Jim is awesome he has a good crew and I would highly recommend them.
Great, fast service! Explains everything. Well priced, quality work. I do most of my own car work and take good care of my cars, but anything I can't do/don't have time for I take here because I trust them completely.
Jim and the folks at Baldwin have exclusively been my family's auto repair shop for nearing a decade now. Jim has fixed issues other mechanics "couldn't figure out". These are good, honest people who do excellent work. I have never felt like anyone here was trying to take advantage of us, and what we've paid has always been more than fair. My first trip to this shop at eighteen, Jim fixed my broken door lock free of charge because he noticed it was broken, and felt it was a safety issue since I'm a young female. Another time my check engine light wouldn't go off, and no one else had been able to figure out why since it wasn't throwing a code. Jim discovered a small piece of insulation blocking a sensor...voila! Problem solved.
78 dollar oil change...basically. Asked for an oil change and my car was making a funny noise. Solution: leaks. They said to watch the oil level and not to worry about it. They charge for the number of times they put your car on the rack apparently (word for word) then I was charged 18 dollars for using a debit card. Seriously?! Jim is a nice guy and said he would give a discount on the next oil change visit. But damn! 78 bucks for an oil change essentially. Bring cash!
Recommendation: reward people for using cash (5% discount) don't punish them for using a debit card. Crazy.
Can't say enough good things about Baldwin Automotive!
Baldwin is super helpful and honest! He explains things with clarity and only desires to fix what is actually broken. Honest, dependable, and affordable service. He can be quite busy and take a while sometimes, but the service is worth the wait.
