As a photographer, I can really appreciate the aesthetic beauty of this urban inn. It's a historic building, which just adds to the charm of it, plus it is right downtown near some of my favorite Chattanooga places like Pickle Barrel and Public House. Plus you can catch the free electric shuttle a block away and ride to most of the cooler spots closer to the riverfront. Staying here is a memorable, romantic experience, from dining on delicious food at Terra Mae to sharing a jetted tub to looking out on downtown from a balcony. Make sure you catch the wine and cheese on Friday and Sunday brunch. You really can't compare this experience to staying in a chain hotel and doing the lobby buffet. This place is special.
We rented the entire inn for our wedding, so that all of the wedding party and grooms family could stay at the same place (everyone else was the the Read House). Through out the entire process and our entire stay everyone at the inn went out of there way to be helpful and make sure everything was on point. Hands down this was one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding. We also had our rehearsal dinner at Terra Mae, downstairs, which was amazing. We can't say enough good things and wouldn't hesitate to recommend either establishment.
Our room was beautifully decorated and the bathroom was huge. We had a lovely balcony that was a perfect spot to enjoy the wonderful spring evening and early morning. Attention to details would have made out stay much more enjoyable. The bathroom sink barely drained and the mirror was not cleaned. There was mildew in the shower and light bulbs were burned out. We missed breakfast because we were not told when it would be served and couldn't find info in the guest services book in the room. I am sure I could have called the front desk and asked but I had already called twice about the sink and just hated to be any more of a bother. All rooms open into a central landing that is brightly lit all night. This is only a problem if you prefer to sleep in a darkened room, as all of the rooms have a frosted transom above the doors which lets in lots of light. All in all this is a nice place to stay for the atmosphere but for the cost more care should be taken to provide an upscale atmosphere that matches the price. The owners have the opportunity to make a few improvements and have a true jewel on their hands.
The StoneFort Inn is a Chattanoogan gem. Top notch service and all the comforts you could need in a classic setting. Real keys, real beds, real service. The hotel restaurant is amazing, our meal exceeded all our expectations, both the quality and preparation of our meal and the service from the Maitre'd to the kitchen runners, to our server. Complimentary breakfast is made to order and excellent. The StoneFort Inn is a wonderful destination getaway within easy walking distance of many attractions. Expect excellence, they deliver.
I've really enjoyed staying here a few times. Great old place. Rooms are nice. Breakfast in the morning is really good. Friendly staff, good parking, and fast internet.
