Overall a decent experience. However it is due for a remodel and is about to close for said remodel. That being said the toilet leaked, the online booking did not provide an area for you to inform them that you have a pet and apparently gas with dogs are limited to the second and third floor so I was charged after the fact. The bed was extremely comfortable. But for your stay be prepared to pay $15 plus tip for valet.
We were there this weekend for my friend's birthday. I had heard many great things about this hotel and it has always been her favorite so I was looking forward to it. The lobby was nice. That is about the only good thing I can say. Our room was a nice size but it was a DUMP! She called to change rooms. She went to look at it and decided that ours was the lesser of two evils. The moldy, musty smell got me when I got off the elevator. The room had peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, water stains on the ceiling, stains on the curtains, stains on the chair, a very large red spot in the carpet and the linens on the bed did not match. Also, there was a very small dorm size refrigerator on the floor. This is not what I expect for a $300 per night hotel. The wall unit air conditioner was due for a cleaning for sure. I now have no voice and my allergies are crazy. I am sure it is due to the mold, must and mildew of this place. I don't think I have ever stayed at such a bad hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE!
The hotel manager was understanding to my disappoint and refunded my stay. I am glad that they are willing to try to make things right. Hope the hotel looks amazing once all of the renovations are complete.
Don't stay here if you are planning on seeing the "historic" part of the hotel. We stayed here this past weekend. They are renovating and where they have you staying looks nothing like the pictures on the website. I was very disappointed and felt like the hotel should make customers aware when making a reservation of what is happening at the hotel.
The steakhouse is no longer open. Our view was of a wall. You open the curtains and all you see is a brick wall. I am not one to leave negative things about businesses, but I just feel like people who maybe contemplating on staying here knows exactly what to expect - as I had no clue and was SOOO disappointed. The pluses were - the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
*****UPDATE****** 12/05
Have read some reviews about a smell in the Hotel, there is a smell in the valet parking area and the back door where you enter from the valet but it is not a terrible smell. I feel like it is actually the downtown area. The hotel itself is beautiful very elegant an historic the room we stayed in was nice but there were a few problems with the maintenance again nothing that cannot be overlooked, and it doesn't take away from the overall experience of the hotel. It is very convenient to the downtown Chattanooga area close to all the attractions close to several restaurants and within walking distance of a lot of the downtown area. I read reviews about the safety Factor in downtown Chattanooga but we walked a few times and had no problems even late at night. One plus is the Starbucks in the lobby area that is accessible from the outside too. Did not have a chance to try room service or the steakhouse downstairs but next time I'm in Chattanooga I will stay here again and hope to try those out.
This place could be such a nice hotel, the location is great and the lobby is beautiful. That’s about where the nice words end however. The rooms are way over due for a major overhaul. The room itself feels very dark, especially at night. The couch had rips in it and the bathroom was all kinds of dingy. The grout started out creme colored at the walls and by the middle of the floor it was black and nasty. The shower just felt dingy too with layer upon layer of caulking thrown on all the seams. To top it off mattress had a horrible divot in it and there was zero place to charge a phone within 6’ of the bed. I mean, come on, that’s the least they could do is give us a place to charge our phone.
Very disappointed customer.
